A Cricket Match Introduction,venue, teams, scores, conclusion.

Last Thursday a friendly cricket match was played between our school and the neighbouring pakuria C.A. High school on our school playground. All the students were taken to the field to encourage the home team and good cricket on either side.

The match started at 12 noon.

The captain of our school team toss and elected to bat first.

Our openers Pradip and Tapan began the innings.

They were playing well but when our score was 25 our first wicket fell.

Then our middle order batsmen batted brilliantly and we reached 80 for the loss of three wickets from fifteen overs.

Every boundary and overb boundary was thunderously cheered by the huge home crowd.

Our school team s innings ended after they had made 167 for 6 from the stipulated twenty five overs.

Soham pal who scored 57 was our highest scorer.

The opponent team went in to chase the big score after half an hour break.

They made a disastrous start losing some early wickets.

At one stage,they were 16 for three wickets, thanks to the spirited seam bowling by our new ball bowlers.

However,they made a good recovery in the middle stage of their innings.

Their captain koushik played a sheet anchor role.

They reached the hundred mark by losing 4 wickets.

At that stage, they needed 58 runs off 50 balls.

But our team did not lose heart, thanks to the strong support of the home crowd.

Our bowlers maintained a tight line and length well supported by excellent ground fielding.

Our fielders took off spectacular catches and effected two run outs .

This was the turning point of the match.

In the last over the opponent side required 11 runs.

Our bowlers Soham pal kept his nerve and bowled really well .

He conceded one four and a few singles.

The guests needed just 3 from the final delivery.

The spectators were on their fee. The final delivery wasl sent down and was hit hard.

But the batsman was caught at long on .

The hopes of the opponent's to win the match were shattered.

Soham pal Wes  adjudged the man of the match for his all round performance.
